Presentation on fire prevention and upcoming fire forecast and management application

Following the 2019 disastrous fires that affected more than 2,600 ha of lands across the country, and the subsequent bad fire season that Lebanon experienced also in 2020, fire risk is only expected to increase in future years.

In the framework of the fire prevention advocacy project funded by the International Republican Institute (IRI) the Firewise® program of The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) called on April 20th, 2021, all partners and national stakeholders related to the forest fires sector to discuss together the losses incurred in the last years, trends expected in forest fires and define together the list of gaps that needed to be filled for the country to be better prepared for the next fire season.
