The International Recovery Forum 2023 brought together over 440 participants and speakers from 70 countries, both on-site and online. Held on January 27, 2023, the forum's theme was "Building Back Better and Long-term Recovery Outcomes: Aspirations for a Resilient, Sustainable Future."

The forum provided a platform for recovery experts and leaders to share their knowledge and experiences. Participants reflected on long-term disaster recovery experiences and the factors that contributed to long-run successes and failures for impacted communities. They examined current practices for planning, financing, and governance, and the mechanisms and policies needed to achieve better recovery outcomes and ensure no one is left behind.

The annual forum is among the main activities managed by the International Recovery Platform (IRP) to share experiences, learning, and evidence to support resilient recovery and building back better. The full-length video of the forum and the individual presentations are available on the IRP website and IRP’s YouTube channel.
