The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2019) is the main forum for strategic advice, coordination, partnership development and reviewing progress in implementing the Sendai Framework, the global roadmap for reducing disaster loses by 2030.

The GP2019 was held in Geneva and the Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) initiative was featured, launching the first SFVC Synthesis and Analysis Report. Also, Learning Labs sessions were organized to share information about the SFVC online platform and engage with stakeholders building resilient societies around the world.

The launching session of the first SFVC Report was held on 16 May, including a main presentation by UNDRR about the report as well as presentations by three stakeholders who shared their voluntary commitments: on inclusiveness for people with disabilities (Ms. Lily Kusumowardoyo, DiDRRN), on local government contributions to Target E (Mr. Alessandro Attolico, Province of Potenza) and on coherence (Ms. Veronica Ruiz, IUCN). For the Learning Labs, two sessions were scheduled on 17 May to familiarize stakeholders with submitting and monitoring voluntary commitments on the SFVC online platform.
