Stakeholders registered 140 deliverables as concrete outcomes through their Voluntary Commitments

The Sendai Framework is the global plan to reduce disaster loses by 2030. To support its implementation, the UN General Assembly Resolution (A/RES/69/283) underlined the importance of stakeholders’ specific and time-bound commitments at local, national, regional, and global levels.

Stakeholders working on DRR can showcase these contributions at the Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments online platform. The platform aims to be a factual reporting tool rather than a record of aspirational statements, considering that the purpose is to ensure that non-state support to DRR is accounted for. To publish voluntary commitments, each commitment has to submit specific deliverables (outcomes from their DRR activities or initiatives) and periodically report on progress. The platform has registered 140 deliverables by 45 voluntary commitments so far. Out of those, 74 deliverables (more than half) have been already reported as completed and backed with tangible evidence.

Through this information, stakeholders can not only inform the public but also; learn and collaborate, knowing who is doing what and where to explore synergies; and motivate others, allowing good practices to be highlighted.
