Participants of the meeting convened with focal points of the SFVC platform during the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR).

The 2022 APMCDRR was held from 19 – 22 September in Brisbane, Australia where a meeting was organized with focal points of voluntary commitments published in the Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments online platform gathering a total of 11 participants engaged in six voluntary commitments (VCs). The UNDRR team shared an overview of VCs in the region and their linkages to the Asia-Pacific Action Plan, followed by an exchange among stakeholders on benefits of the platform and improvements that can add value to the platform.

Benefits mentioned included promoting accountability and transparency by using the platform as an effective monitoring tool and space to share results and increasing involvement among local communities to be engaged in DRR efforts by using it to effectively demonstrate local contribution to global agendas such as the Sendai Framework. Suggestions provided were to link with the platform with other UNDRR initiatives, increase the visibility through the midterm review of the Sendai Framework, and make it easier to find synergies with other initiatives.

UNDRR continues to make improvements to the platform and welcomes stakeholders’ feedback on an ongoing basis.
