UNDRR & ARISE Japan joint symposium 2026 "Strengthening disaster risk reduction by advancing investment in resilience and translating science into Practical Action” as held in Tokyo with the presence of Mr. Kishore, Head of UNDRR, on 10 March 2026.

The Asahi Broadcasting Group Holdings Corporation (ABC) hosted an exhibition titled “A Future Vision of Disaster Prevention to Share with the World” as part of the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

The 2025 United Nations Sasakawa Award for DRR has been awarded to the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) in the organisational category. GNDR has published so far three voluntary commitments in the SFVC platform.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) platform has been moved to UNDRR’s common web platform. This relocation enhances the visibility of commitments, improves accessibility for all users, and ensures robust support for future initiatives.

The Gender Action Plan to support implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (Sendai GAP) has been launched on 18 March 2024.

The International Recovery Forum 2023 brought together over 440 participants and speakers from 70 countries, both on-site and online.
