The program is a continuation of our August 2010-April 2011 Youth Training. Conducting three months training in emergency response, medical first aid, incident command system, firefighting, disaster management and environmental awareness.
Description
The Mission of Society of Fire and Disaster Emergency Community Conflict Agency is to deliver to the world “The Key Of new hope ‘’. We already identified youth as DRR Ambassadors through which this dream can be attained. With this program we are seeking to create a viable youth movement towards building Community Resilience. This is in line with the Sendai Framework's recommendation to enhance collaboration and involvement of community based organizations and nongovernmental organizations for the dissemination of information, the design of policy and the implementation of disaster risk management. It is an integration of identified gaps existing in various Global Assessment reports which we have modeled to answer to those gaps. It is a 3 months training in Paramilitary incident command system, First Aid, DRR/ Management, Environmental studies and Community Thematic Firefighting skill to graduate as qualified Fire Brigades
SOFADECCA is tapping the energy, knowledge, dynamism and innovation from this population. In return we are seeking to integrate them in managing Disasters and excavating the Hazards that remains as the underlying Risk. Outcome: Approved Emergency responders, Conflict mediators, and Emergency satellite units, eradication of idleness, drug, crime, and self-resilient Ambassadors. They will be issued with certificate of qualification approved by government and Emergency response numbers as key DRR stakeholder.
The program is still targeting to train 200-500 youth between 2013-2019 who will in return train many many more who will also take part in research to enrich this discussion.
Did the Sendai Framework change or contribute to changes in your activities/organization? If so, how?
Yes. Going by Global Assessment Reports which we contributed to, the target groups "Youth” has become more than a target but a serious partner still under threat facing challenges. We have captured all these in line with the new Framework. On the Framework Preambles under Hyogo Framework for Action: lessons learned, gaps identified and future challenges close 7 and 8 are specifically encouraging multi-sectoral approach including pointing on youth as a clear partner.
What led you to make this commitment/initiative?
What was your position before making this Voluntary Commitment / prior to the Sendai Framework?
-Youth is our main line of focus and we have large room for improvement in terms of our achievements. This is the reason why awe are making this commitment again
-We have been engaging in DRR and YOUTH since 2010 through Training. We have taken part in various DRR workshops,Policy drafts, call for proposals,GAR-Research areas since HFA1,2 and contributed to the creation of Sendai Framework. We are part of Sendai the Framework and aim at supporting the the statement that "Children and youth are agents of change and should be given the space and modalities to contribute to disaster risk reduction, in accordance with legislation ,national practice and educational curricula".
